Privacy Policy

This policy describes information that may be collected during a visit, how it is used, and the circumstances in which it may be disclosed. By using this website, you accept the practices set out below.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

Search terms entered into a search box are sent to the outside provider operating that tool, which processes the query and supplies results. We do not keep a log of the name or case number typed into the tool.

Messages and Contact Submissions

We retain messages sent to us so our team can respond. We do not disclose those messages outside the organization unless the law requires disclosure.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page is requested, our servers may record technical information about that visit, including:

  • The time and date of each page view
  • The pages opened and the time spent on them
  • The referring website, when one is provided
  • Your device's IP address
  • Browser name and version, device type, and operating system

Cookies and Analytics

Small cookie files stored by your browser help us understand general traffic patterns, such as which pages are visited most often. Analytics providers summarize those patterns for us. You can block cookies in your browser; doing so may affect how some site features work.

What We Do With This Data

  • Diagnosing and correcting technical problems
  • Operating the site and improving page performance
  • Passing search requests to the provider for that tool
  • Understanding which pages are useful to visitors
  • Displaying advertisements that may reflect visitor interests

No Court-Record Data on File

Indiana Court Docket does not host or sell a docket database or personal case files. It provides general directions to MyCase, Indiana's court system, and the Clerk of the Circuit Court offices that hold local records in the state's 92 counties. Access to Indiana court records is governed by the Access to Public Records Act (Indiana Code 5-14-3) together with the Indiana Rules on Access to Court Records and Administrative Rule 9. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information collected here is not compiled into reports about other people.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. A query submitted there is handled under that company's privacy policy and retention and disclosure practices, which we do not control. Read the provider's policy before entering information.

Links to Other Websites

Links on this site lead to Indiana county clerks, courts, MyCase, legal aid organizations, and outside search providers. Once you leave this website, the destination's privacy policy applies; review it before sharing personal information.

Some advertising partners may use their own systems to follow activity across websites for ad targeting.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal data. Information may be shared with or received by:

  • Government agencies or law enforcement when a lawful order requires it
  • Advertising networks that place ads on these pages
  • Analytics providers measuring site traffic and performance
  • Search providers processing queries submitted through their tools

How We Protect Your Data

We use customary security measures to protect the information we collect. Internet systems cannot be guaranteed secure, however, and we cannot promise that a security incident will never occur.

Users Under 18

This website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. Contact us if you believe a minor submitted information so we can address it.

Your Data Rights

Where the law applies to a controller and the data involved, Indiana's Consumer Data Protection Act (Indiana Code 24-15) gives eligible Indiana residents certain rights. These may include confirming or accessing personal data previously provided, requesting its correction or deletion, and opting out of targeted advertising, data sales, or profiling, subject to the law's exceptions:

  • Ask whether covered personal data is being processed and request access to data you provided
  • Request correction or deletion of covered personal data
  • Opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or profiling as provided by the law
